I am in the process of applying for a micro renewable wind turbine to help offset my current electricity bills and provide me with cheap, clean and sustainable energy. North West Skye is a pretty windy part of the world all year round, and the Western Highlands have the greatest wind potential in the whole of Europe. However, I wanted to get some scientific data about actual wind speeds at my house location.
I have a LaCrosse WS-3502 weather station which monitors and logs wind speeds from an anemometer I have located about 2.5m above the ground on the north elevation of the house. This data is then periodically logged onto the computer and published to the web. The station also logs pressure, and I have a separate unit for monitoring temperature.
