I have now also completed laying the upstairs flooring. I have use T&G whitewood for the covering, each board is secret nailed. I have managed to make most of the joins under walls, but some are visible. The boards are not all exactly the same size, but wood is a natural product and so will never be perfect. However, the effect is great, I am very impressed with the finish, considering how cheap the material is. Secret nailing the boards has taken a fair bit of extra time, but the finish is far superior to normal floor boards, where the nails are visible.
The new upstairs floor. I
had no clamp to help joint the boards, but a bit of off cut and a hammer and a
lot of effort seems to have done the job.
This is looking towards the
south gable wall. The wall will be insulated and dry lined, and then a wardrobe
fitted against it. I plan to have the rest of the are as a master bedroom - the
rafters and sarking are finished, and will just be tidied up a bit, but the roof
is essentially finished.
This is the north gable.
You can see the hole where the spiral staircase will come up. There will be a
wall against the far edge of the stair opening, and behind will be an en-suite
bathroom, with a shower, basin and toilet. Again the gable wall will be
insulated and dry lined.
