Below are some pictures showing the walls taking shape
in the back of the house. These will create the bathroom, and a small hallway.
Here my father is laying out the frame, ready for us to
start building it. It's important all the sizes are correct, so that baths and
toilets will fit in the right places. It's also very important to get the holes
the right size for the door frames, and it will be very difficult to fix any
problems later.
First, the sole and head plates were fixed in place.
Then the studs are fixed between them, and checked for plumb. This picture shows
the studs being fitted.
This picture shows the kitchen / bathroom wall being
fitted. The studs at the front are between the back bedroom and the bathroom.
Noggins will need to be fitted between the studs to make the wall more rigid,
and to fix the plasterboard to. Any services will be run inside the walls, and
the spaces will then be filled with rockwool insulation.
With all the walls in place, next the frames for the
doors are fitted. The actual door liner fill be fixed to these
studs.
All
the back walls complete. I finally now am beginning to get to a stage where room
are beginning to appear, and the layout of the house is now a reality, rather
than just a drawing. Excellent!
Here's another picture of the bathroom looking from the kitchen. It's beginning to finally take shape.
Here is a shot looking from the living room through to the back of the house, and the bathroom. In the foreground there is some temporary wiring which will be removed eventually.
