• (External) Wittets Chartered local architects based in Broadford. Provided detailed structural plans, building control and planning permission in the early days of the renovation, not to mention advice. Highly recommended.

• (External) Hotline Flues On-Line shop providing just about everything you could need to do with lining chimneys. I used Hotline for all the flue parts I required while renovating Bridge Cottage.
• (External) Daltex Roofshield Plenty of information about using and installing this breathable membrane. I used RoofShield during the installation of the roof at Bridge Cottage.
• (External) Jewson Jewson have been a major supplier of materials, being based in Portree. Suppliers of everything building, but I mainly used them for bulk materials such as blocks, sand, cement etc.
• (External) John Fleming Inverness based builders merchants. Supplied most of the timber and insulation materials for the renovation.
• (External) Screwfix On-line supplier of many light side building materials and tools. An invaluable resource, especially living in a remote location.

• (External) The Centre for Alternative Technology A charity which aims to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly living. The visitor centre, based in mid Wales is excellent, and CAT offers some fantastic resources for self builders. Wheather you're on a budget and just need abit of advice, or you want to go full thrust into sustanable living, CAT will have resources to help. A fantastic, practicle resource.
• (External) Windsave This company provide micro wind turbines for home owners in the UK. The units are roof or wall mounted but must be installed by a recognized installer if you wish to qualify for the 30% government grants.
