Internal Works

Below is a mixture of pictures showing some of the internal works which have I been progressing.

Here, the noggin's are being fitted, to strengthen the ceiling joists, and prepare for plasterboard to be fitted.

This picture shows the old 70's fireplace before. I'm sure it was very nice in it's day, but I have decided it has to go......surprisingly!

Here I have removed the fireplace, and am removing the rubble and old lintels. You can see the coal back boiler, which has also had it's day, although it still works very well.

Here is the fireplace, as it will be. It's quite a nice feature, and I think a wood burning stove will look excellent, once I have build a new hearth, and installed the flue liner. At the side is the redundant back boiler. Here the new hearth is under construction. I have laid out the blocks, which give we the height and depth into the room (to satisfy Building Control). Here the blocks have been cemented in place. I have filled the centre with concrete, and here is the finished hearth. The concrete and clocks will be finished (probably using slate), and the new floating floor will be flush with the top of the hearth (no step as there is now).
